解体しウールの元の形に蘇る
前編では廃棄された製品を解体し、色ごとにまとめ反毛しやすい状態にする工程をご紹介しました。
ここから解体されたボロや廃棄された残糸を反毛機にかけ、ウールの元の形へと戻していく作業を行います。
In the first part, we Introduced the process that dismantling discarded clothed and grouping them by color for easy to HANMOU.
From here, the dismantled rags and discarded residual yarn are put on a machine of HANMOU, and returned to wool fiber.
ここから解体されたボロや廃棄された残糸を反毛機にかけ、ウールの元の形へと戻していく作業を行います。

まず送られてきたボロは粗く粉砕します。
この日は茶色のボロが機械にかけらていました。
白は、他の色が混ざるといけないので、機械を分けているようです。
粉砕した繊維は針のついた反毛機へとかけられ、何度も反毛工程を繰り返し、ふわふわの原毛に近い風合いに戻していきます。
First, the rags received are crushed roughly.

It seems that the machines are separated because white must not to be mixed with other colors.
It is crushed fiber.Since it is still rough, those are repeated the process of HANMOU many times from here to return those close to fluffy raw wool.

反毛の工程を通ってできた繊維は紡績工場に送られ、繊維長を揃えて、糸へと紡がれていきます。
ウールだけだと、繊維の強度が出ないため、化学繊維をブレンドする場合もあるようです。
そうしてできた糸は今度は機屋に送られ、織機にかけられ、様々なテキスタイルへと生まれ変わっていきます。
私たちが手にするリサイクルウールには、服を解体する人、解体したボロを粉砕して原料に戻す人、糸を作る人、糸から生地を作る人、染色する人、とたくさんの人の手が加わり蘇っているのです。

ウールだけだと、繊維の強度が出ないため、化学繊維をブレンドする場合もあるようです。
そうしてできた糸は今度は機屋に送られ、織機にかけられ、様々なテキスタイルへと生まれ変わっていきます。

未来のための取り組み
最後に、今回ご紹介した反毛の生地を取り扱っている、ファインテキスタイルの社長は、繊維のリサイクル事業について、こんな熱い思いを語ってくださりました。
今日見学した中でも、せっかく作っても出荷できずにいる玉腰整毛さんの俵の山や、 「普段のこの時期ならば忙しくなければならない。うちを含めてやがて消えゆく産業なのか。」と嘆いていた尾栄繊維産の息子さんの言葉が刺さりました。
古着も以前は中国をはじめとする海外へ輸出が容易でしたが、各国で規制が厳しくなっている為に国内で処理するしかなくなっています。
また製品としての出口がないために使える原材料も使えなくなってしまっているのが現状です。
そして今、その設備が維持できなくなって日本の国内で再循環できなくなり、やがてゴミとしか扱えなくなっていってしまう境目にいるのだということを痛感しました。
メルカリや古着としてのリユース市場は活況であるものの、衣料品の廃棄量は右肩上がりです。
援助という名で回収した古着を海外に押し付けることなく、国内で持続可能な循環的生産システムを残していく、
それがサスティナブルなのではないかと思いました。
生地の生産者である私たちにできることは、その原材料を使った魅力ある製品を開発し、原材料の出口を見つけてあげることが責務ですね。

Finally, the president of FINE TEXTILE which handling the HANMOU fabric we introduced in this time, told about his passion regarding the textile recycling business.
In the factory tour in today, the mountain of straw bags which have not been able to ship even if they made in TAMAKOSHI-SEIMOU, and then “We have to be busy in this season.Will this industry disappear soon including ours?” the lamenting word of the son of BIEI-SENI hit me.
Previously, it was easy to export used clothing to China and other countries, but due to stricter regulations in each country, there is no chance but to dispose of them domestically. And now, I keenly feel that it is on the borderline where the equipment can no longer be maintained and can not be recycled in Japan, and eventually it can only be treated as garbage. Although the reuse market for Merukari(flea market app) and used clothing is booming, the amount of clothing disposal volume is rising. I thought that it would be true sustainability to leave a sustainable cyclical production system in Japan without pushing the collected used clothing as aid to overseas. What we who as fabric producers can do is to develop attractive products using the raw materials and find the destination of the raw materials.
